The Penn Mile Stakes is a Grade II encounter that was inaugurated in 2013 and it now takes pride of place at this race course. This is a one mile heat and the purse has been $400,000 over the past few years.
The race has been Grade II since 2017, with Wow Whata Summer becoming the 2022 winner for trainer James Lawrence, while Gershwin was the 2021 champion when the race was briefly demoted to Grade III before regaining the Grade II status in 2022.
