On that occasion, an Argentinian horse called Mohammed Ali was able to land the spoils and the race has gained in stature since then.

By 1941, the race had been relocated to Cidade Jardim Racecourse, with Adil a horse who was able to land a consecutive treble of victories in 1955, 1956 and 1957. The race is for three-year-olds and you will find it takes place every May over 2,400 metres on turf track.
