Dr Rascal began his career with a victory at Leicester Racecourse in June, with the 11/1 shot producing a winning start on his debut. That was followed by a smart win at Ascot in July, with the 4/1 shot winning a novice stakes race. Seeing off favourite Rising Tiger was a fine achievement, with that coming before a win at the Glorious Goodwood meeting.
The horse was able to score by half a length when sent off as a 13/2 shot, with a superb effort in the Coral Vintage Stakes. The fact that the runner was able to keep on well at the end of the race suggests that a strong showing is on the cards. However, Charlie Appleby has some strong contenders and that includes Al Hudaiba and Inner City Blues.
The former has secured a number of wins in a short career to date. The horse was only half a length behind Dr Rascal at Goodwood over seven furlongs, with that coming after a victory at the July Meeting at Newmarket Racecourse. The win was in the Superlative Stakes, with there also being a Newmarket success back in June as the odds-on favourite.
Inner City Blues has landed consecutive wins for Charlie Appleby and can’t be easily discounted. There was a mid June success at York when obliging as the odds-on favourite over six furlongs. There was an even better effort at Newmarket in the Kingdom of Bahrain Stakes where the 5/6 market leader was able to get the better of Adaay Of Scarlett.
