Nifty 50 Handicap Betting Odds

Friday 5 June 2026 · Epsom Downs · By Matthew Glazier · Last updated

The Betfred "Nifty 50" Handicap takes place at 3.15pm on Friday, with a maximum of twenty runners lining up at Epsom Racecourse. Respond immediately catches the eye and has performed well on the all-weather this term before a victory on the turf last time out. Andrew Balding's four-year-old could be an each-way bet to nothing on the Oaks card.

Sallaal also has strong form and may go off as favourite, with Tycoon having landed fifth and third-placed efforts this term. Hand Of God was able to score for Harry Charlton in a previous showing, while Let's Dream is an interesting price considering the horse was in the winners' enclosure on the previous two showings.

2026 Betfred "Nifty 50" Handicap Betting Tips

Respond has run four times this season and two of the outings have resulted in a victory. Although the horse is one of the top weights for the Betfred "Nifty 50" Handicap, we should expect a strong effort over one mile and two furlongs. There have been three outings on the all-weather this term including a victory at Chelmsford on 12 March.

Then came the win at Chester in the May meeting. The 10/11 favourite was an impressive winner over one mile, two and half furlongs when winning the Great Cheshire Handicap. The fact that the horse was able to lead from the front for the majority of the race makes the runner a standout contender which we can get behind.

Sallaal was able to record a second-placed finish on a seasonal debut and Roger Varian will be confident of a strong showing on Friday. The runner returns to Epsom where that previous display took place, with the horse having too much to do in the end. However, we might expect the horse to come on from the display here.

Tycoon and Hand Of God are also trading at single figure odds. The former runs for Kevin Philippart De Foy and there has been a fifth and third-placed finish for the runner this term. The latest effort came at Newmarket in early May at odds of 22/1 and the horse was less than a length off the pace in the Betfred Suffolk Stakes.
