2025 Nifty 50 Handicap Betting Odds at Epsom Downs racecourse

Friday, 06 June 2025

There are some top-drawer races at Epsom on Friday, with the Betfred Nifty 50 Handicap presenting customers with the chance to place each-way bets on the action. There’s a purse of £50,000 available to the winner of an encounter over one mile and two furlongs. Mutaawid looks like a solid contender and he will be lining up for John & Thady Gosden.

The four-year-old won last time out, with Botanical having finished fifth on the all-weather last time out. Defiance is also trading at single figure betting odds. The Roger Varian-trained charge returns after a lengthy absence, with Ashariba having been in the winners’ enclosure on several occasions and perhaps we’ll see a bold run.

2025 Nifty 50 Handicap Betting Tips

Mutaawid looks set to go off as favourite for the Betfred Nifty 50 Handicap, with the four-year-old able to land a victory last time out. The horse scored at Newmarket in the middle of May when the 15/8 favourite was able to win over a mile and two furlongs. That came after a solid midfield effort at Goodwood Racecourse in the previous showing.

Botanical is next in the betting market, with George Boughey saddling a runner who didn’t pull up any trees at Kempton last time out. Fifth out of eight runners on the all-weather suggests that improvement is needed here. However, the horse was relatively smart when finishing third out of nine runners at Doncaster and another placed finish could happen here.

Defiance has been away from the track for some time, with the four-year-old running for Roger Varian. The horse was last seen at Royal Ascot 2024, with the outsider being out of his depth in the King Edward VII Stakes. However, a more notable run came at Epsom a year ago when finishing second in a Betfred Blue Riband Trial.

Ashariba has been racking up the wins during his career so far. The latest success came at Ascot back in October. This success came after triumphing on the all-weather at Kempton Park. The horse also previously won at Chelmsford, so the charge is now bidding to record a fourth consecutive win and perhaps this will happen.
