Temple Stakes Results at Haydock Park — 23 May 2026

Saturday, 23 May 2026

There's a five-furlong dash at Haydock Park in the form of the Temple Stakes, with a big field competing on Saturday 23 May. Night Raider runs for Karl Burke and the five-year-old was able to claim a notable success last time out. The same applies to Mission Central who certainly looks like a backable each-way price.

Asfoora claimed two successes last season and may well perform to a great level for trainer Lemos De Souza, with Rosy Affair trading at a bigger price. The latter was able to score two successes last season, with George Boughey's five-year-old likely to be a warm order. Shagraan was also a two-time winner for Clive Cox in the previous campaign.

2026 Temple Stakes Betting Tips

Night Raider is the horse most likely to win the Temple Stakes according to the horse racing betting sites. The five-year-old was a winner at Newmarket in early May when landing a half length success. That was achieved in the Group 3 Palace House Stakes, with that coming over five furlongs and it came after a disappointing effort at Longchamp back in October.

The winner of the Prix de l'Abbaye de Longchamp Longines that day was Asfoora, with the horse sent off as the 13/5 favourite and trainer Henry Dywer will hope his charge can perform just as well on quicker ground. However, a seasonal debut saw the horse finish tenth in a field of fourteen in the Palace House Stakes.

Mission Central looks a backable each-way price for Aidan O'Brien, with the three-year-old open to big improvement. The horse was able to score at Naas at the end of April when obliging as the 13/2 winner, with that coming after a tenth-placed finish in the Juvenile Turf Sprint at Del Mar. Then there was a two-year-old conditions stakes win at Ascot on Champions Day.

Rosy Affair finished the previous season with successive wins. George Boughey trains a horse who obliged at Pontefract in August before impressing punters at Deauville in October. Favourite Daylight was beaten into second in the Barriere Prix de Meautry and the latest effort this season saw the horse finish runner-up in the Ellen Chaloner Stakes at Newmarket.

2025 Temple Stakes Betting Tips

Michael Appleby could have a potential superstar lining up in the Temple Stakes, with Big Mojo heading the betting market. The horse was a splendid winner at the end of April when triumphing over six furlongs, with the runner returning to the winners’ enclosure after wind surgery. Previously to this was a decent effort when finishing fourth out of twelve at Del Mar.

That was in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint, with the horse only a length off the pace in America. In the Flying Childers Stakes at Doncaster Racecourse back in September, there was a runner-up performance although the odds still imply that another runner will win. Rumstar is a five-year-old who was able to win on his seasonal debut.

Jonathan Portman saddles a horse who recently triumphed at Newmarket at the beginning of May. That was in the Palace House Stakes over five furlongs, with the horse claiming a victory by one and a quarter lengths. Back in October, there was previously a triumph in the Rous Stakes, with the horse fifth in the Betfred Portland at Doncaster.

Jasour has plenty to prove after a couple of underwhelming efforts towards the end of the previous season. Clive Cox will hope that his four-year-old comes through, with Mgheera successful on a seasonal debut. That came at Longchamp in May, with a success achieved in the Prix de Saint-Georges and a repeat could see him go close.

2024 Temple Stakes Tips

Live In The Dream has been installed as the betting favourite to win the Betfred Temple Stakes. The five-year-old is trained by Adam West and the horse is the highest-rated in the field, with some bright performances taking place last season. The last outing was in the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint when the runner was able to finish fourth.

Previously to this, the horse was sent off as the 18/5 favourite in the Woodford Stakes at Keeneland before finishing fourth, with this coming in the Nunthorpe Stakes at York where the runner surprised everyone by obliging at betting odds of 28/1. However, there is some stiff competition in the form of Rogue Lightning who landed a number of wins last term.

The four-year-old finished fifth in the Prix de l'Abbaye de Longchamp Longines at the beginning of October, with this coming after three successive wins at Doncaster (twice) and Ascot. Tom Clover’s charge certainly has the credentials to record a victory and could merit some each-way money based on his latest price.

Asfoora has run three times this season, with the horse finishing fourth out of fourteen runners in the Kia Ora Galaxy at Rosehill in Australia. The previous two outings took place at Caulfield where the runner finished tenth and second respectively. It’s hard to match up the Australian form and perhaps Regional can make an impact.

2023 Temple Stakes Tips

The Platinum Queen is likely to go off favourite in the Betfred Temple Stakes, with the horse returning to the track after a relatively long absence. The Roger Varian-trained charge was last seen running in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint although the horse didn’t perform particularly well at Keeneland Racecourse in that two-year-old encounter after previously impressing.

However, there was previously a victory in the Prix de l'Abbaye de Longchamp Longines in early October, with this being on very soft ground over five furlongs. Indeed, there were a spate of wins in 2022 and the filly was able to score wins at York and Goodwood before claiming that victory in France. She could be the one to beat.

Twilight Calls wasn’t particularly impressive when running at Newmarket in early May, with the horse sent off as the 11/4 favourite when finishing ninth in the Howden Palace House Stakes, with the runner looking to now show the sort of form that saw a second-placed finish in the King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot last summer.

Royal Aclaim was sent off as the 5/2 favourite in the Qatar Prix du Petit Couvert before finishing third in a five furlong contest at Longchamp, with the horse having previously run in the Coolmore Wootton Bassett Nunthorpe Stakes when finishing sixth in a race that also included The Platinum Queen and more improvement is needed here.
