Breeders Cup Filly and Mare Sprint 2026 Betting Odds

Saturday 31 October 2026 · Keeneland · By Matthew Glazier

We’ve got an exciting seven furlong to kick things off at Del Mar on Day Two of the Breeders’ Cup meeting. There are lots of lively contenders, with Sweet Azteca heading the market and the five-year-old has passed both assignments with flying colours. However, Richard E Mandella trains a couple of horses who both have a chance of winning.

The horse racing betting sites can’t separate Kopion and Tamara, with both horses having achieved plenty of success in their careers so far. Hope Road has been making good progress for Bob Baffert this term and there’s definite each-way claims as far as Richi is concerned. Look out for Splendora bidding for a third successive win.

2025 Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint Betting Tips

The biggest money day in US racing starts with the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint, with twelve runners set to go to post in this seven furlong encounter. Sweet Azteca has collected plenty of notable wins this term, with Richard Baltas having seen his charge triumph at Del Mar towards the end of August. The win in the Rancho Bernardo Handicap came as no surprise.

Previously to that, there was a success at Los Alamitos at the beginning of July, with that coming in the Great Lady M Stakes. That Grade 2 success saw very short-priced favourite Kopion defeated. However, the horse was previously beaten at short odds of her own when losing in the Chillingworth Stakes at Santa Anita.

Kopion looked fantastic at Churchill Downs when obliging in the Derby City Distaff, with a three-length success having been followed by two runner-up spots. Losing at Los Alamitos was a surprise to many, with the Richard E Mandella-trained charge having then missed out in the Clement L Hirsch Stakes over a mile and half a furlong.

Stablemate Tamara is certainly in the conversation too. The four-year-old was last seen obliging at Santa Anita in early October, with the odds-on favourite triumphing in the Chillingworth Stakes. That was the first outing of the campaign, with Hope Road having won at Saratoga when scoring in the Ballerina Stakes by two lengths.

2023 Breeders Cup Filly & Mare Sprint Tips

Much depends on whether Goodnight Olive can run to form when it comes to the 2023 Breeders Cup Filly & Mare Sprint. If the filly is able to reproduce some of her previous performances, then it could be a straightforward win, with the horse finishing second behind favourite Echo Zulu in the recent Ballerina Handicap.

There was only two and a half lengths separating the runners, with the Chad C Brown-trained horse having previously obliged in the Bed o’ Roses Stakes. This victory came at Belmont Park over seven furlongs, with this Grade 2 encounter seeing the favourite oblige by the distance of a neck although the horse did slip up in the preceding encounter.

The filly could only finish in third place when it came to the Derby City Distaff Stakes at Churchill Downs, with Matareya and Wicked Halo having finished ahead of the horse and that will give encouragement to others in the field, with Society certainly difficult to rule out after a string of solid performances that has seen her win the past two outings.

The triumph at Charles town came against two other runners over seven furlongs in fast conditions on 26 August, with the same horse able to previously oblige at odds of 11/5 in the Chicago Stakes. This was an eye-catching win at Ellis Park where she was able to win by over ten lengths and this could be an each-way bet to nothing.

2022 Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint Tips

Goodnight Olive is a talented four-year-old that has landed a string of victories. The Ballerina Handicap was an interesting barometer, with four-year-old winning at odds of 58/10 and there were some notable horses that were beaten on that day. That included the 2021 winner of the Fillies and Mares race which was favourite Ce Ce.

The horse won the race by nearly three lengths, although there’s not a bundle of experience compared to the other operators. Echo Zulu is trained by Steven Asmussen and the runner looks like a promising three-year-old who was backed off the boards to win the Dogwood Stakes before winning at Churchill Downs.

Just One Time runs for trainer Brad H Cox and the horse has already landed a win at Keeneland Racecourse this year. It was a straightforward victory in the Madison Stakes over seven furlongs on muddy ground. That was back in April and the runner was also bang in contention on her last outing.

The Derby City Distaff Stakes saw the American horse sent off as the 6/4 favourite before finishing third at Churchill Downs, with Ce Ce bidding to make history and she warmed up nicely with an early October victory when winning the Chillingworth Stakes. That was on fast ground over six-and-a-half furlongs.

2021 Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint Betting Tips

Gamine is now trading at odds-on and she is certainly the one to beat in the eyes of the bookies. Bob Baffert managed to get the then-three-year-old spot on twelve months ago when the horse obliged and she’ll be lining up at the age of four. The bookies are now giving her a larger than 50% probability that the horse scoops this major honour once again.

Since that victory at Keeneland on 7 November, Gamine has gone on to score a further four victories and the most recent of these was in the Ketel One Ballerina Handicap at Saratoga, with the horse having previously scored wins at Santa Anita and Churchill Downs last spring. There was also a facile win at Los Alamitos in the summer.

Bella Sofia Second Favourite to win Breeders’ Cup Clash

While Gamine will take all the beating, Bella Sofia is a horse that deserves to take her place among the favourites for this race. She is certainly a young pretender to the crown and the three-year-old looked outstanding in the Gallant Bloom Handicap when winning against three other entrants.

Rudy Rodriguez previously won the Longines Test Stakes when chinning Souper Sensational and Search Results, with the new kid on the block having kicked off her career by claiming victory in an Allowance Race at Belmont Park.

Ce Ce and Edgeway Also have Breeders Cup Claims

Ce Ce will step up in class for this encounter in the Chillingworth Stakes, with Michael McCarthy having claims as the trainer of this talented filly, with the horse having finished third behind Gamine at Saratoga and she has plenty to fine in order to frank the form.

Edgeway has the added advantage of having already won at Del Mar Racecourse and the four-year-old won the Rancho Bernardo Handicap which means that she deserves to take her place in this encounter.
