2024 Lightning Novices Chase Betting Odds at Lingfield Park racecourse

There is little to separate the leading runners when it comes to the 2024 Lightning Novices’ Chase, with preference for Djelo who looks to have a favourable track record and there has been a succession of smart wins this season. However, JPR One goes for Joe Tizzard and the seven-year-old is capable of running a big race.

The same goes for My Mate Mozzie who has hit the frame in the past four encounters, with Gavin Cromwell saddling a runner who is marginally shorter in the betting than Master Chewy and Pembroke. Both of these horses have landed victories this season and we also can’t rule out the prospect of Matata running at bigger racing odds.

2024 Lightning Novices’ Chase Tips

Djelo is a six-year-old with bags of ability and this horse will be bidding for a fourth consecutive win this season. Venetia Williams trains a runner who won at Ascot in December, with the horse claiming a victory in the Howden Noel Novices' Chase. It was a smart performance from the 6/5 favourite on that occasion.

The horse claimed a victory previously to this when obliging as the 15/8 favourite in the Coral Racing Club Novices' Limited Handicap Chase, with the runner opening the season with a victory over two miles in the BoyleSports Money Back 2nd Meeting Handicap Chase. The horse beaten on that particular occasion was Master Chewy.

Master Chewy was able to win at Kempton Park Racecourse back in December, with the horse producing a notable performance in the Ladbrokes Wayward Lad Novices’ Chase over two miles, with this coming after a second-placed finish at Newbury earlier in the same month. The horse was less than a length behind Djelo at Aintree.

Gavin Cromwell saddles My Mate Mozzie and the seven-year-old has triumphed twice this season and they have also posted two runner-up spots this term. The runner was second to Found A Fifty at Leopardstown on Boxing Day and that came after beating three other horses at Cheltenham in October.
