2026 Scottish Champion Chase Betting Tips
The Kalooki Kid has been fourth and fifth this season, although it's worth bearing in mind that the runner has been in competitive encounters. Twelve months ago, the Nicky Richards-trained charge was able to score in this race and was then somewhat out of his depth in a top-class race at Aintree. After outings at Carlisle and Musselburgh this term, perhaps further improvement is on the cards.
Saint Segal has two wins and two runner-up spots this term. Jane Williams saddles a charge who ran fairly well at Kempton Park over the festive period and this came after an early December success at Kelso. The horse was also an October winner at Chepstow and then finished runner-up to Thistle Ask at Exeter over two miles and a furlong.
We're certainly intrigued by Thistle Ask considering the spate of wins that have been enjoyed by Dan Skelton's charge. The nine-year-old clocked up four consecutive victories and was only three lengths behind Jonbon at Ascot recently. It was a rock solid effort in the Grade One Clarence House Chase and a repeat could be enough for a victory here.
JPR One and Viroflay are also among the market leaders and they both have a credible profile. The former is a nine-year-old trained by Joe Tizzard, with the horse finishing runner-up at Cheltenham in mid-December. It was pretty impressive considering he was the top weight, with the latter having won for Paul Nicholls last time out after three runner-up spots.
