2023 Duty Free Handicap Betting Odds at Newbury racecourse

Saturday, 23 September 2023

There are lots of lively runners and riders who are lining up in the 2023 Dubai Duty Free Handicap, with this encounter being a Class 2 encounter over one mile and two furlongs. The rainfall expected means that there will be some cut in the ground which makes this more of a staying race and it will be interesting to see which runner can prosper.

King Lear is the charge who has been respected the most, although the betting market is relatively open and there are claims for several other runners. This includes Le Mans and Balance Play, with Totnes another horse who is trading at single figure betting odds. There could be some merit in waiting to see how the racing odds unfold.

2023 Dubai Duty Free Handicap Tips

King Lear has been respected by the layers to the extent where the horse is likely to be sent off as the favourite to win the Dubai Duty Free Handicap. James Doyle is on board a runner who began the season by outrunning odds of 22/1 to finish fourth in a novice stakes race at Newmarket before landing a victory at 11/10 in a maiden stakes race at Nottingham.

The horse did fall short as the odds-on favourite in a Novice Stakes race at Goodwood, although there’s every chance that George Boughey can saddle the charge to a victory and there’s actually merit in backing the runner from an each-way point-of-view. Le Mans has scored twice in three outings this season and could also be interesting.

Richard Hannon will hope to see another victory after two victories in three outings from the three-year-old, with the latest success coming at Salisbury. In the Lester Aldridge Handicap, Ryan Moore was able to steer the charge to a success by nearly two lengths and that came after a second-placed finish at Kempton on the all-weather.

Balance Play was successful in two of the previous three races and has to be respected, with the horse underwhelming as the 3/1 favourite in the Sky Bet Handicap, with previous victories occurring at Chester and Goodwood. The latter win came in the Goodwood Coral Handicap where the 7/2 joint-favourite got up by nearly two lengths.
