2024 AW Easter Classic Betting Odds at Newcastle racecourse

Friday, 29 March 2024

We’ll see a maximum of fourteen runners go to post for the All-Weather Easter Classic Middle Distance Handicap, with the horses competing over one mile and two furlongs. Oh So Grand has built up a head of steam by recording a number of victories and it would come as no surprise if the four-year-old was able to claim the spoils here.

Penzance has also enjoyed a glut of wins and is trading at a similar price, with Michael Appleby training a runner who will be carrying an extra pound compared to his rival, although there are also shouts for Elegant Man and To Catch A Thief, with a test of stamina and speed on the cards.

2024 All-Weather Easter Classic Tips

Oh So Grand has clocked up three consecutive wins ahead of the All-Weather Easter Classic Middle Distance Handicap, with the four-year-old carrying 9-1 for this encounter. The latest success came against seven other runners on the all-weather at Lingfield, with this victory taking place on 20 January when obliging as the 11/8 favourite.

Previously to this, there was a December success at Lingfield, with the horse running really well to oblige at odds of 9/2. Jack Mitchell will be on board a runner who is competing with Penzance for favouritism, with the former having obliged with a victory at Newcastle back in October when obliging over one mile and two furlongs.

Penzance has recorded four straight victories and there could be more to come from the Michael Appleby-trained runner, with the latest success coming in early March at Lingfield Park. That success came after a sixty-day break, with a victory at Newcastle taking place on New Year’s Day.

There were back to back successes at Chelmsford in December before a New Year’s Day success at Newcastle, with the horse now bidding for a fifth straight success. It’s certainly hard to split the front two in the betting, with Elegant Man having a higher rating although the horse will be carrying more weight than the favourites.

2023 Easter Classic Middle Distance Championships Tips

Forest Of Dean could only finish sixth out of eight runners in his previous race, although the horse racing betting sites make him favourite to win the BetUK All-Weather Easter Classic Middle Distance Championships Conditions Stakes and it must be admitted that this previous encounter was a competitive tussle which was won by talented favourite Lord North.

Forest Of Dean was previously the winner when obliging in a fast-track qualifier to be lining up in this race, with Collen Storey riding the charge to victory out of six different runners and that included a win against Harrovian who is also lining up as one of the favourites in this Newcastle all-weather race, with the bookies finding it hard to split the two horses.

The latter has followed a similar journey to arrive in this race, with John Gosden also having this runner which gives the legendary trainer a very strong chance of success. However, jockey James Doyle has opted to ride the race favourite, with Robert Havlin on board Harrovian and hoping to get his tactics right when it comes to the off.

Freescape has plenty to prove on the evidence of the most recent outings, with these all coming in competitive races at Meydan. However, there were a succession of performances at the all-weather track at Dundalk racecourse, with the eight-year-old capable of a sound race for trainer David Marnane, with Base Note having finished fifth on the past two outings.
