What Are the Big Lingfield Park Races?
Lingfield Park racecards are available at Racing-Odds.com when there’s a race meeting taking place although there are some notable races that are taking place and they include the Cleves Stakes and the Winter Derby Trial which both occur in the month of February.
The Cleves Stakes is a listed horse race over six furlongs and this has been in operation since 1997, with trainer David Barron having been the most successful in this race thanks to victories with Jaconet, Waveband and Tarooq.
The Winter Derby Trial serves as a pre-cursor for the Winter Derby which takes place a few weeks later and the Lingfield racecard is packed with potential stars who will run over one mile and two furlongs in a bid to land that all-important victory.
The Winter Derby itself will take place in either February or March, with the Lingfield odds available in advance of this Group 3 encounter where the prize money is substantial. The race attained Group 3 status in 2006 and is one of the leading quartet of non-turf Group races.
In May, there is also the chance to see some budding stars thanks to Lingfield Park races hosting the Lingfield Oaks Trial and the Lingfield Derby Trial, with both races attracting horses that will then look to kick on and compete in the actual Oaks and Derby at Epsom.
Several contenders in these races have gone on to win the Oaks and Derby, with Anapurna the most recent Oaks winner in 2019. John Gosden has experienced plenty of success through saddling Hertford Dancer, Anapurna and Miss Yoda in three of the past four renewals.
