Racing Welfare Handicap Betting Odds
Unforgotten and Harswell Duke are the horses that stand the most chance of winning the 2023 Racing Welfare Handicap at Newmarket Racecourse, with as many as twenty runners competing over the distance of one mile. We’re likely to see soft going and the John Gosden-trained Unforgotten certainly appears to have the potential to go well.

Harswell Duke is saddled by trainer Roger Fell and is given a reasonable chance of success, with Ashky and Greatgadian other horses that are available at single figure odds. It’s worth monitoring the field to see the confirmed runners and working out what the price movements mean, with many of the horses having similar form.

Unforgotten has been a memorable horse during his career so far. The five-year-old has been in excellent form thus far, with the runner being sent off as the 11/4 favourite in the recent Spreadex Sports Lincoln Trial Handicap before finishing as a runner-up. Previously to this, the five-year-old landed the spoils in three consecutive races and has to be respected here.
Harswell Duke is trading at a similar price and the Roger Fell-trained charge showed his capabilities on heavy ground to recently win the Pertemps Network Spring Mile Handicap. This was as recently as 1 April at Doncaster Racecourse, with successes at Leicester and Nottingham being achieved last October.
Ashky is also among the favourites to win the 2023 Racing Welfare Handicap, with the Harry & Roger Charlton-trained runner having performed well and perhaps he is the best each-way value in the race. There was a third-placed finish in the Racing TV Fillies' Handicap and we might see jockey Ryan Moore on board once again.
Greatgadian runs for trainer Roger Varian although the worrying aspect is that the five-year-old has now gone nine races without a victory. However, there was plenty to like about his sixth-placed finish in the Pertemps Network Lincoln where the horse was sent off at odds of 40/1 and we could see further improvement from this runner.
