2023 Middle Park Stakes Betting Odds at Newmarket racecourse

Saturday, 30 September 2023

We’ve got another high quality race at Newmarket on Saturday 30 September, with some exciting two-year-olds set to battle it out over six furlongs. The front three in the betting are all trading at a similar price, with River Tiber, Vandeek and City Of Troy all leading contenders and it will be interesting to see which horse is best backed.

The trio have all collected some notable wins this season and Vandeek has scored three successive wins, with City Of Troy also boasting a 100% record. However, it’s worth looking out for extra places when it comes to each-way betting and there are a number of other quality runners including Lake Forest and Jasour.

2023 Middle Park Stakes Tips

Aidan O’Brien has a strong hand when it comes to the Juddmonte Middle Park Stakes, with the legendary trainer having River Tiber and City Of Troy as two of the leading contenders. When it comes to the former, there were three straight wins earlier in the season, with these victories coming at Navan, Naas and Ascot.

Ryan Moore rode the charge to a victory as the 11/8 favourite in the Coventry Stakes, with the horse getting up by a slender margin, although the same horse could only manage a third-placed finish in the Sumbe Prix Morny on very soft ground when beaten by Vandeek who will line up against the same adversary here.

Vandeek has scored three successive wins and runs for trainers Simon & Ed Crisford, with the horse coping best of all in Deauville when beating the talented Ramatuelle by a short distance and that came after a victory in the Markel Richmond Stakes at Goodwood where Andrea Atzeni was able to steer the favourite to a famous win.

City Of Troy has recorded successive wins and the two-year-old can’t be discounted from the reckoning here. Aidan O’Brien saddled the horse to a victory at the Curragh when winning a maiden over seven furlongs, with the runner then triumphing in the bet365 Superlative Stakes on the July course at Newmarket.

2022 Middle Park Stakes Stakes Tips

Charlie Appleby is no stranger to training Group 1 winners and Noble Style could be the latest victor, with the horse’s odds having tumbled for the Middle Park Stakes over the past few weeks. The two-year-old was originally trading at 9/2 although he has now gone under the 2/1 mark and there could be further money for the runner.

A win in the Jemima Howden Novice Stakes over five furlongs set the horse on a path to greatness before a Novice Stakes victory on the July course at Newmarket. Then came a victory in the Al Basti Equiworld Dubai Gimcrack Stakes and this Group 2 victory caught the eye and sent the runner’s odds shortening.

There are lots of dangers lurking in the field and that includes Blackbeard who has claimed consecutive wins coming into this race. Aidan O’Brien has seen his runner prosper in French racing recently, claiming a victory in the Darley Prix Robert Papin at Deauville before an even better performance to win the Darley Prix Morny over six furlongs.

Marshman was second to Noble Style when the two horses met in the Gimcrack Stakes at York Racecourse and it’s not difficult to see the form being franked. After all, the runner-up that day ran very green and we might well see an improved performance with a little more experience for this clash.

Bet on the Middle Park Stakes Horse Racing Odds

Every bookmaker will offer horse racing betting odds on the Middle Park Stakes and there’s a chance to compare the latest prices and find out where the value lies about the selection that you want to back on the racecard. It’s a race where trainer Aidan O’Brien has enjoyed tonnes of success in recent decades, with the Irish handler having six winners and counting.

O’Brien was off the mark with Minardi in 2000 and has also enjoyed triumphs with Johannesburg, Ad Valorem, Crusade, US Navy Flag and Ten Sovereigns. These horses were all owned by John and Sue Magnier, with Earthlight winning for Godolphin in 2019 and there was a victory for Supremacy in 2020 when Clive Cox saddled the horse to a triumph.

Perfect Power Favourite to Win 2021 Middle Park Stakes

Perfect Power could be the perfect horse to back for the Middle Park Stakes, with Richard Fahey having saddled this runner to a number of victories this season and the latest win was in the Darley Prix Morny - Finale des Darley Series at Deauville in late August, with Christophe Soumillon giving the horse a quality spin to win fairly comfortably.

It made up for a somewhat underwhelming performance in the Unibet Richmond Stakes where the horse finished well down the order, although there was a 14/1 victory in the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot and there has certainly been more hits than misses for this horse this season.

Who Are the Other Favourites For This Race?

Richard Hannon has a couple of potentially live chances, with Lusail potentially running elsewhere at the Cambridgeshire meeting although three consecutive wins illustrate that the horse clearly has bright prospects should connections decide to go down this route.

Armor is more likely to appear from the Hannon stable to line up in this clash and this horse was sent off as favourite to win the Deauville race before finishing fourth, with the runner having work on his hands to frank the form after Perfect Power left his opposition for dust.
