2025 Scurry Stakes Betting Odds at Sandown Park racecourse

Saturday, 14 June 2025

There are four horses trading at considerably shorter odds than the rest of the field when it comes to the BetMGM Scurry Stakes. Hold A Dream runs for Clive Cox and the three-year-old has produced some solid efforts during his career thus far. The same could be said for Star Of Mehmas, with Richard Hughes saddling a promising contender over five furlongs.

Coto De Caza has already landed three victories and comes to Sandown for a seasonal debut, with Town And Country having finished runner-up on consecutive occasions this term. Henry De Bromhead will be looking for his charge to get off to a fast start over five furlongs, with Colin Keane on board.

2025 Scurry Stakes Betting Tips

There are eleven runners set to line up in the BetMGM Scurry Stakes, with Hold A Dream potentially the horse who could go off as favourite. Clive Cox will be optimistic of a bold effort, with the runner last seen finishing fifth out of ten runners at Newbury last time out. Previously to that was a great run to finish second at Chelmsford.

Star Of Mehmas landed three consecutive victories last year. There was an August success at Lingfield on the all-weather, with that coming before beating three other runners at Wolverhampton. Then there was a September success at Ayr where he triumphed in a field of fourteen horses, with the horse last seen finishing runner-up at York.

Coto De Caza is the highest-rated horse in the field, with a victory being achieved at October last term. There was plenty to like about his effort in the Cornwallis Stakes, with the horse performing brilliantly over five furlongs on good to soft ground. That came after finishing third out of fourteen runners at Ayr, with previous successes at Goodwood and Beverley.

Town And Country is bidding to go one better than two consecutive runner-up performances this term. Henry de Bromhead has run twice at Cork this term and the Irish raider was close to landing the spoils last time out as a 33/1 shot. In a listed race, the filly was narrowly beaten by a head and there could be more to come.

2023 Scurry Stakes Tips

It could be all about narrowing down the field when it comes to the 2023 Scurry Stakes at Sandown Park, with punters able to create a shortlist and still potentially make a profit. Great State has been recording victories since scoring at Southwell in March, with that all-weather success followed up by a win at Thirsk in early May.

More recently, there was a success in a Listed Race at York Racecourse, with the Richard Fahey-trained horse able to steer the horse to a two and a half length victory and Oisin Murphy will once again be on board a competitor who could take all the beating according to the best horse racing betting odds, although it’s a big field lining up.

Tajalla runs for Roger Varian and the three-year-old is yet to taste defeat, with the horse sent off as even money favourite in a five furlong encounter at Hamilton. That came after a Novice Stakes victory over five furlongs at Newmarket, with David Egan likely to give the runner a decent spin over the same distance in a bid to preserve a 100% record.

Perdika has the highest rating out of any horse in the field, with the three-year-old fresh from a recent win and this was recorded at Chantilly, with the runner winning the Prix Marchand d’Or over six furlongs on good ground. This came after a second-placed finish in the Prix de Saint-Georges at Longchamp Racecourse and that was a Group 3 outing.
