2024 Silver Arrow Handicap Betting Odds at Musselburgh racecourse

Saturday, 30 March 2024

We have nine runners going to post for the Silver Arrow Handicap, with Poet Master heading the betting market and the four-year-old could be open to making further progress. K R Burke trains a runner who has a number of wins under his belt already, with Gweedore another potential winner of this race.

The seven-year-old runs for trainer Katie Scott but hasn’t been in the winners’ enclosure for several races and perhaps it could be worth going for Northern Express considering that the six-year-old has previously put in some impressive showings. Love De Vega is the other horse who is trading at single figure racing betting odds.

There are nine horses lining up in the Silver Arrow Handicap, with Poet Master regarded as the horse with the strongest chance of securing a victory. The runner has landed three victories in his short career to date, with a victory kicking things off at Musselburgh back in June before landing another triumph at Haydock in July.

After an underwhelming performance at Haydock Park, the latest success came in the Betfred City of Doncaster Handicap where the runner was able to win by nearly three lengths. However, the betting odds suggest that Gweedore and Northern Express are also lively each-way contenders.

The former is a seven-year-old who finished fourth out of ten runners on the all-weather at Newcastle Racecourse, with this coming after a third-placed finish out of twenty-two runners at York Racecourse. Northern Express will be bidding to return to the winners’ enclosure and Michael Dods trains a contender who could be an each-way bet to nothing.

Love De Vega catches the eye at a bigger price and the five-year-old boasts solid credentials, with the latest success coming at Chelmsford in February. A more recent encounter saw the horse finished midfield on the all-weather at Newcastle Racecourse. Compare the latest betting odds for this encounter and grab the value.

Adeb is a four-year-old with a potentially bright future and Richard Fahey will be hoping that the horse kicks on from a fine performance on the all-weather at Newcastle Racecourse. In the middle of February, the horse claimed the spoils when triumphing over seven furlongs and this came after finishing second in an Apprentice Handicap over six furlongs.

However, Autumn Festival is the runner that really catches the eye in the Musselburgh Silver Arrow Handicap. The four-year-old is vastly experienced and there was a solid win at Musselburgh Racecourse back in October when the horse was able to claim a one length victory. That came after winning the Old Gravel Pit Lodges Handicap, with that coming after a double at Chepstow.

Charlie Johnston has lots of runners competing in the Royal Mile Handicap and will also hope to score in the Musselburgh Silver Arrow Handicap, with The Gatekeeper among the betting favourites and there was a decent showing at Doncaster last time out. It was a competitive Pertemps Network Spring Mile Handicap where the 14/1 shot was able to perform well.

A win in early March at the all-weather track at Newcastle means that there’s plenty to like about this runner from an each-way perspective. Oisin Murphy will be on board Bling On The Music and the horse was last seen winning at Leicester Racecourse, with more to potentially come from a runner who could benefit from wind surgery.
