Summerghand appears to be coming back into form based on recent outings and it wouldn’t be a big surprise if the nine-year-old went close considering the overall track record. In the William Hill Great St Wilfrid Handicap, the horse was sent off as the 9/2 favourite before being narrowly beaten by a head against Sophia’s Starlight.
Gale Force Maya is an interesting contender who was successful at York and Ayr last autumn, although victories have been scarce this season. Michael Dods will hope for a change of fortune and the horse was last seen finishing fourth at Pontefract when being sent off as the 4/1 favourite in a fillies’ stakes.
Orazio was a full sixteen lengths behind Aberama Gold when finishing down the order in the Stewards’ Cup at Glorious Goodwood meeting, with the runner sent off as the 100/30 favourite before flattering to deceive. However, some punters might be prepared to give the horse another chance and there was a solid showing in the Wokingham Stakes.
