2025 Strensall Stakes Betting Odds at York racecourse

Saturday, 23 August 2025

We’re expecting a competitive encounter when the Strensall Stakes takes place this weekend. Fox Legacy has secured three wins from four appearances this term, with Andrew Balding’s charge trading as the market leader to land a victory. The four-year-old could be the one to beat, although King’s Gambit has also produced some smart performances this term.

Bowmark has been in the winners’ enclosure this season, with Skukuza having landed two victories from the past three displays. First Conquest began the campaign with two wins and the Charlie Appleby-trained four-year-old having been regularly in the frame this term. King Of Cities has also been third in the previous two outings.

2025 Strensall Stakes Betting Tips

Fox Legacy has solid credentials coming into this race. There’s a reason why the Andrew Balding-trained charge is trading as the favourite to claim the spoils in the Strensall Stakes. The latest effort came at Goodwood in the Bentinck Conditions Stakes where the horse was able to triumph by over five lengths. That came after an excellent win at York.

That was in the John Smith’s Cup Handicap where the horse was able to oblige over one mile, two and a half furlongs. There was a sixth-placed effort in the Royal Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot and that came after a victory in the Betfred Suffolk Stakes. However, some customers might want a bigger price and there are some good alternatives.

King’s Gambit was a solid performer at Royal Ascot, with the horse landing third place in the Wolferton Stakes over one mile and two furlongs. That came after a disappointing effort at Newbury in the middle of May, although some punters might want to side with a runner who has some recent wins on the board.

Bowmark was able to score at York back in May when winning a novice stakes quite comfortably, with that being followed by a disappointing fourteenth place out of eighteen runners in the Qatar Prix du Jockey Club. However, Skukuza had a couple of smart wins at the Curragh in May and June respectively before a midfield finish in the Coral Golden Mile.
