Bet on the Sidney Banks Memorial Novice’s Hurdle

There are a number of high-profile races that feature on the Huntingdon race cards and that includes the Sidney Banks Memorial Novice’s Hurdle which is staged every February and this race has been in operation since 1976, with some of the finest hurdlers in the UK lining up to compete in this race.

Shishkin was the high-profile winner of the 2020 renewal and the Nicky Henderson-trained charge then went on to win the Champion Hurdle a few weeks later, with the six-year-old really putting the Sidney Banks Memorial Novice’s Hurdle on the map.

This is a race run over two miles and three furlongs and it’s open to horses aged four or over, with Vinndication, Keeper Hill and Ma Du Fou among the other leading horses that have won at Huntingdon races when it comes to this event.

Huntingdon Odds Also Available for the Peterborough Chase

While the Sidney Banks Memorial Novice’s Hurdle is open to top-class hurdling horses who line up to take their chances, the same can be said of the Peterborough Chase where the Huntingdon race cards showcase a number of leading chasing horses that might go on to run in the King George VI Chase or the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

This is a race which had its inauguration in 1978, with Top Notch having won the race in 2017 and 2019 and the Henrietta Knight-trained Racing Demon also landed a double in 2006 and 2007. It’s a real test of stamina, with the horses competing over two miles and four furlongs, with sixteen fences to be jumped in total.

Edredon Bleu was the most successful horse to win and those that backed the runner at the Huntingdon races during 1998-2001 will have been delighted after the Jim Lewis horse was able to triumph on four successive occasions. However, stablemate Best Mate was able to win in 2002 after winning the Cheltenham Gold Cup earlier that year.
