2023 Discover Newmarket Handicap Betting Odds at Newmarket racecourse

Tuesday, 18 April 2023

The Discover Newmarket Handicap looks like a great each-way betting race and there are several horses that all have a similar rating. That means a potentially open encounter although New Kingdom could be the horse with the best credentials. The Godolphin horse was a winner last time out and he’s one of several four-year-olds in the race.

However, there are some more experienced runners in the race and that includes Mums Tipple who runs for trainer Richard Hannon, with Juan Les Pins likely to go well on his seasonal reappearance. We’re still at the early stage of the flat season and there isn’t a huge amount of current form from which to go off.

2023 Discover Newmarket Handicap Tips

New Kingdom is trading as betting favourite to win the 2023 Discover Newmarket Handicap when you look at the antepost horse racing odds. The Charlie Appleby-trained runner was able to score at Meydan on his past appearance, with the horse obliging in mid-February when performing over one mile.

It was a mixed bag for the four-year-old in England last season, with the horse winning the Cazoo Handicap in early September although he failed to follow that up in October when finishing well down the order in the Peroni Nastro Azzurro Challenge Cup. Therefore, it could be worth looking for bigger-priced alternatives.

Brewing, Juan Les Pins and Mums Tipple are among the other market leaders and the latter is the highest-rated horse in the race. The Richard Hannon-trained charge finished fourth in the BetUK All-Weather Sprint Championships Conditions Stakes at Newcastle Racecourse on the all-weather, with the same horse claiming a win at Chelmsford.

Brewing caught the eye on the all-weather track at Lingfield Park last time out, with the four-year-old finishing fourth in the All-Weather Vase Mile Handicap and there were three consecutive wins at Newcastle (twice) and Kempton towards the end of last year. Juan Les Pins hasn’t been seen since finishing third in the Virgin Bet Ayr Gold Cup Handicap although that was a fine performance at big odds.
