Bet on the Grade One Champion Chase at Down Royal
Every November, some of the leading Irish horses descend on Down Royal to battle it out in the Champion Chase. It's a three-mile encounter which often acts as a precursor to the Cheltenham Gold Cup. This race has been in operation since 1999 and we saw Envoi Allen win in 2022 before returning to land a victory in 2024 and 2025.
We've seen Paul Nicholls and Gordon Elliott saddle plenty of winners at Down Royal when it comes to the Champion Chase. The former has obliged with Kauto Star on two occasions as well as Frodon. The latter has been in the winners' enclosure with horses including Don Cossack and Gerri Colombe.

We also provide Down Royal tips when it comes to several of the other encounters at this course in Northern Ireland. At the Champion Chase meeting, there are Friday encounters in the form of the Down Royal Mares Novice Hurdle and the Jezki Hurdle. They're both races over two miles, with customers betting on Down Royal encounters which attract a strong pedigree of horse.
The Novice Hurdle was originally run in 2002 and achieved Grade 3 status in 2007. Willie Mullins has achieved four wins in total to date, while the Jezki Hurdle is named after the legendary Jessie Harrington-trained charge. This horse won the race in 2013 and has held Grade 2 status before eventually being demoted back to Grade 3.
There's also the Grade 2 Skymas Chase where the runners and riders battle it out over two miles, three and a half furlongs. Since 1999, punters have been able to access the Down Royal racecards and the latest grading was applied in 2009. Skymas was a previous winner of the Queen Mother Champion Chase and it's a race where Paul Nicholls has had several winners.
