All Roads Lead to the Galway Festival
The Galway Festival is hugely popular and you can access Galway tips for each day of the seven-day meeting. It always starts on the last Monday of July every year. This is the longest race meeting in Ireland in terms of duration, with the Galway Plate Day and Ladies Day being very well-attended. Since 1999, the race meeting takes place over seven days. For each day, you can visit Racing-Odds.com and bet on Galway selections. Racegoers head to the racecourse and enjoy betting on a mixture of handicap encounters. We publish all the available information so you can decide which runner to back.
Galway Plate Takes Centre Stage
There's the chance to access all the Galway racecards through the calendar year. However, the highlight for many is the Galway Plate. This is an encounter over two miles and six furlongs, with this handicap heat being as old as the racecourse itself. There's always a handsome purse available for the winning connections, with fourteen obstacles needing to be encountered.
Life of a Lord and Ansar are both two-time winners of the Galway Plate, with racing fans able to go through the Galway racecard and determine the best horses to back. We've seen Gordon Elliott land a number of successes, with the trainer having saddled Lord Scoundrel, Clarcam, Borice, Ash Tree Meadow and Western Fold.
Bet on the Galway Hurdle and Ballybrit Novice Chase
The Galway Hurdle takes place during the Galway Festival, with this being the most prestigious hurdle race of the seven-day meeting. This takes place over two miles, with a horse called Tudor City landing a victory in 2019 before claiming a double in 2022. Trainer Willie Mullins has recorded a number of wins including Mystical City, Clondaw Warrior, Sharjah, Aramon, Saldier and Zarak The Brave.
There are Galway betting odds available for this and every other encounter that form part of the Festival. There are nine obstacles to be encountered, with this race having been inaugurated since 1913. The Ballybrit Novice Chase traditionally takes place on a Sunday in October, with this being a Grade 3 encounter over two miles and a furlong. First run since 1997, the race gained popularity and was accredited with Grade 3 status in 2002. Willie Mullins has clocked up a number of wins, with Twinlight being the first of many successes.
